This is a month old or so, but still worthy of a mention.

Bush Administration Says Warrantless Eavesdropping Cannot Be Questioned

What do Republicans think about this? I know how I feel about it, but surely someone out there other than Bush administration officials think this is proper… or is it that Bush has nothing to lose politically, so it doesn’t matter what people think?

I’ve only been getting into politics for the past few months, so I have some catching up to do… This is a clip from back in October strongly critical of the legislative and executive for eliminating habeas corpus.

This scares the heck out of me. Please God don’t let this guy get elected. This doesn’t sound like a man who’s going to fight for my liberties, but rather a man who will fight for bigger and scarier federal government.

What we don’t see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

Update: I was a bit unfair in pulling that quote out of its context. Please see comments.
